How many of the drugs that you prescribe to your patients have you personally had experience taking. And have you ever seen any of Dr. Weil’s Books, which are at the basic foundational level, about eating whole foods and fruits and vegetables. And herbs are plants aka vegetation. think about it

Dr Weil’s first priority is safety, obviously he’s not going to recommend broccoli to a cancer patient, though that’s how you implied it. If it’s not safe, then that would contradict the whole entire point on taking medicine. Dr Weil recommends safe natural medicine that helps people, not safe natural medicine that can’t even stand up for itself.

And labels don’t constitute your knowledge.

Are you people on crack? Dr. Knope obviously won this debate. Dr. Weil is very interested in finding the maximum dose of alternative medicine to cause no harm instead of what the minimum dose to be beneficial. Whats the point of taking “safe” medicine if treats nothing? Dr. Knope is not arrogant, he’s intelligent. Dr. Weil did a 1 year residency which is the equivalent of nothing in the medical field. Even primary care docs (Internal Med, Family prac) have to do a 3 year residency.

I am a general surgeon and believe Dr. Weil is correct–integrative medicine is gaining ground because allopathic medicine has recruited no-personality, “junior-scientists”, who can’t communicate with patients. Unfortunately, this has eroded our profession. Dr. Knope is correct–integrative medicine is quackery. Dr. Weil does NOT take of critically ill patients or the side-effects of his medicine. He would NOT be licensed in most states because he ONLY did an internship (one-year).
